City Silo Table & Pantry
The other day as I was scrolling Instagram, I saw someone post a delicious looking picture of their meal from City Silo Table & Pantry. I’m always on the lookout for new yummy local restaurants, so I browsed City Silo’s Instagram, did a quick menu peek on their website, and decided I had to check it out for myself.
The very next day I headed over for breakfast before going to work. City Silo is located on Sanderlin in the same shopping center as the original Muddy’s (y’all know I LOVE Muddy’s). As soon as I entered City Silo Table & Pantry, I immediately loved the contemporary rustic feel of the space. Since I had already perused the menu I knew that I wanted to try the Hippie Scramble – sweet potato hash, black and kidney beans, kale, quinoa, brown rice, avocado spread, and your choice of tempeh or two scrambled eggs. I opted for the eggs. To complete my breakfast, I also ordered a french press coffee.
Shortly after I was seated, my french press coffee arrived at the table. I thought it was a little odd, since french press does require a few minutes to steep. After a quick visual inspection (the coffee looked extremely light) and after the taste test, I determined that my coffee was not properly brewed.
Although the coffee was a miss, the Hippie Scramble was a definite hit and a few dashes of hot sauce made it perfection. It was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had since I’ve been back. I was so impressed by the food that I returned a few days later for lunch. I had the Silo Burger – black bean, lentil, and quinoa burger topped with spinach, tomato, pickles, and sriracha aioli. I added sharp cheddar and sliced avocado. It was very yummy.
Once I find a good thing, I like to enjoy it. So I had to return for another breakfast or two. This time though I ordered the McSilo – English muffin, marinated tempeh (very tasty!), fried egg, vegan cheese or Sharp cheddar (had to get the real cheese!), spinach, and avocado spread (why does avocado make everything even better?!). The McSilo was the perfect start to the day. Honestly, I kinda wish I could have that everyday. This time I got a regular drip coffee, which was much, much better.
I’ve yet to try their cold-pressed juices but I know I will soon be delving into their wide selection. Their hearty bowls also sound scrumptious – assortment of veggies over quinoa and brown rice or zucchini noodles. In addition to those options, City Silo also offers sandwiches, salads, and smoothie bowls. I have to add that City Silo serves breakfast all day – so even if you don’t have time to stop by in the morning, you can still enjoy their breakfast options.
