Denson Liquor Bar

Denson Liquor Bar

Earlier this summer after a delightful art show at the Pepco Building in Washington DC, my soul sister Mia and I disappeared down into a stairwell by 600 F St NW.  Here you will find Denson Liquor Bar, a modern-day speakeasy. Dim lighting, plush banquettes, and a stellar cocktail menu make it easy to loosen your inhibitions and imbibe the night away.

The atmosphere is perfect for a date night or girls (or guys) night. The cocktails are creative and well priced, and the wine list is well-rounded. The other standout was the service.

Of course, the cocktails are clearly the star here, as they should be at any speakeasy, but the cheese board was a delightful surprise. The rest of the menu seems parallel to the din of disjointed conversations that swells within this underground space. There are raw bar selections, grilled cheese sandwiches, and a hodgepodge of small plates.

Since I was fairly hungry, I found the food menu underwhelming. But, I would still return for the atmosphere and the drinks.
