Mi Cuba Cafe
Hands down one of my DC favs! Mi Cuba Cafe is conveniently located a short couple blocks from the Columbia Heights metro making it easy to grab a plate to go. Of course, dining in is always an option. When the cohort bestie suggested a DC study date with lunch here, I couldn’t think of any better motivation.
Grilled fish, beans and rice, and sweet plantains – my go to selections (all this deliciousness for $13*). Each entree comes with a choice of 1. Black beans and rice, red beans and rice, or congri AND 2. Sweet plantains, green plantains, plantain chips, or fried yuca. I find an entree quite filling but if you want a teaser, get the guava and cheese empanada. Afterwards, a cafe bombon (espresso with condensed milk) will perfectly close out your meal.
FYI: Mi Cuba Cafe is closed on Tuesdays. Keep this in mind so you don’t set your tastebuds up for failure.
