Lauriol Plaza
All of this cold weather has me reminiscing about patio brunches and warmer days. It seems like the weather may break soon, but really who knows? What I do know, however, is that brunch at Lauriol Plaza must be in my near future warm weather or not.
On this particular day – when this delicious meal was set before me – my graduate school cohort bestie suggested we get out of our dusty study dungeons and take advantage of the beauty of the day. Lauriol Plaza is a fairly expansive two-story plus patio plus terrace restaurant, which in DC is quite an anomaly given that space is at a premium. Second floor seating overlooks the first floor dining room and is quite a view in itself. However, who can deny the draw of patio seating with its street views (people watching, anyone?). Plus, DC loves to brunch and nothing says brunch like eating al fresco.
Lauriol Plaza is a must try given its prime location and its extensive menu. Here we only dabbled in brunch options – breakfast tacos and a Maryland crab and cheese omelet. Pretty basic I must admit. But, you could choose huevos rancheros (a favorite), huevos con chorizo, or chilaquiles (another favorite), among others. The regular menu features almost anything you could ever want – tacos, quesadillas, tamales, fajitas, margaritas, sangrias – and I am tempted to try to make my way through the menu in its entirety.
Gather your friends and will warmer days into existence! The patio at Lauriol Plaza awaits!
