Pearl Dive Oyster Palace

Pearl Dive Oyster Palace

Pearl Dive Oyster Palace is one of my DC favs! Could it be the selection of oysters, creole staples, or po’boys overflowing with fried shrimp, oysters, or catfish? Whatever your N’awlins pleasure, Pearl’s serves it up consistently and authentically.

Whenever folks are visiting, Pearl’s is my go-to spot. So, it should come as no surprise that the other day when I was looking for respite from this DC cold, I immediately thought of Pearl’s. PLUS, I just found out that they serve brunch Friday through Sunday, and who doesn’t love brunch?!

And that, readers, is how I ended up with a Friday afternoon brunch covered in cayenne hollandaise. The Pontchartrain features two poached eggs nestled upon blue crab, tasso ham, and crawfish. Oh, and an English muffin, but, really, what are we here for? The smattering of fingerling potatoes were tasty perfection, and I gladly would have taken a few more of those in lieu of the perfunctory English muffin. Even the salad greens were yummy. All that was missing were those to die for rolls Pearl’s serves at dinner, but I digress.

Of course no meal is complete without another course, and, in fact, I started the meal with the daily donuts, which were Mardi Gras themed coconut vanilla, frosted, and decked out in purple, gold, and green sprankles. A coffee rounded out this sweet appetizer.

Afterwards, I was feeling festive and full. Luckily, I had taken the metro into the district because a nap was definitely in order.
